The process step by step
- Periodontal examination: pocket depths are measured and bone levels assessed on a panoramic X-ray; the stage is determined.
- Phase 1 — scaling and root planing: tartar and bacterial plaque below the gum line are removed with ultrasonic and hand instruments under local anaesthesia (1–2 sessions).
- Laser / disinfection: diode laser or antiseptic is applied to the pockets, with local antibiotic if needed.
