Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment

Experience comfortable and effective root canal treatments in Turkey at Turquoise. Our skilled endodontists ensure pain-free care to save your natural teeth and restore oral health.

Root canal treatment (endodontics) removes the inflamed or infected nerve of a tooth damaged by deep decay, a crack or trauma, then disinfects and seals the canals. The aim is to save the tooth rather than extract it; a crown or onlay placed afterwards lets you use the tooth for many more years.

At our clinic root canals are carried out with a microscope and rotary systems, usually in a single session; pain is fully controlled with local anaesthesia.

Benefits

  • Saves your tooth: you keep your natural tooth without extraction or an implant.
  • Painless and fast: modern anaesthesia and rotary systems finish most teeth in a single 45–90 minute session.
  • Microscope precision: hidden canals are located, reducing the risk of re-infection.
  • Permanent restoration on the same trip: a zirconia crown or onlay is ready 3–5 days after the root canal.
  • High success rate: root-treated teeth protected by a crown have a 10-year success rate above 90%.

The process step by step

  1. Diagnosis: X-rays and, if needed, a 3D CT scan determine the extent of infection and the canal anatomy.
  2. Anaesthesia and isolation: the tooth is numbed and isolated from saliva with a rubber dam.
  3. Cleaning the canals: inflamed nerve tissue is removed and the canals are shaped with rotary instruments and disinfected.
  4. Filling: the canals are sealed three-dimensionally with biocompatible gutta-percha.
  5. Permanent restoration: a filling, onlay or crown is placed depending on the remaining tooth structure; crowns are made in our lab within 3–5 days.

Who is it for?

For patients with lingering pain to hot or cold, spontaneous or night pain, sensitivity on biting, gum swelling or an abscess, or a darkened tooth. Teeth with infection at the root tip on an X-ray need treatment even without symptoms. Old, failed root canals can be redone under the microscope (retreatment).

Frequently asked questions

Is a root canal painful?

No. The procedure is completely painless under local anaesthesia and in fact relieves the pain you already have. Mild sensitivity for 1–3 days afterwards is normal.

How many sessions does it take?

Most teeth are finished in one session. If there is widespread infection or an abscess, medication is placed inside the canal and a second session follows after 3–7 days.

Do I need a crown after a root canal?

On back teeth, yes; a tooth without a nerve becomes brittle and the crown protects it. On front teeth a filling may be sufficient if enough tooth structure remains.

Does the treatment fit into my trip?

Yes. The root canal is done on day one and, if a crown is needed, it is completed within 3–5 days, leaving you free to explore the city in between.
